Artist Molly Freitag

Bringing to life the tradition of abstract expressionism, Molly Freitag [Milo] emerged into the contemporary art scene in the 1970's with clay works that evolved into a compelling explosion of color and pattern. Influenced by the great contemporary Masters, such as Willem DeKooning, Cy Twombly, Sam Francis, Joan Mitchell, and Robert Motherwell, Milo has found her own voice of abstraction.

Milo believes in the art of true expression. She has extensively explored other styles, but it is her abstracts, with the absence of subject matter, that have fulfilled her and have been the most highly regarded over time. In her current work, one can feel the passion these paintings evoke. Her intuitive, joyful and spontaneous manner is at the very core of her life as a painter. The splashing of color, forms and line create lively compositions not easily forgotten. It is this spirit, energy, and dedication that have brought her work to new levels of appreciation.

Watching Milo's process of trusting her intuition is a captivating experience. While music plays in the background, she becomes completely absorbed in expressing what is in her heart with a gestural painting style that appears almost as a spontaneously choreographed dance . . . . 'Wabi Sabi'.
