Genesis

 

Heart and Hand

As you browse through the paintings within, I hope you will feel the hand and heart at play in the work, and experience a sense of your own nature's ways of change and movement. My water media pursuits have evolved over the years alongside a spiritual journey that has unfolded into a non-denominational Chaplaincy.

My goal is to present the beauty of being and fluidity in life's present moments. Through meditation, I continue to find inspiration and clarity for creating abstract interior landscapes. I find that the more I allow life, painting, and events to arrive of their own accord, the richer my experience and the better my art. If the paintings continue to move silently within their frames, evoking the rhythms and cycles of life like a series of breaths, there will be the sense of completion.

With this intuitive approach, the pathways become simpler and focused on flow and expansive qualities, and metaphoric allusions can be read into the paintings, or not. Sometimes they can be 'read' like poems, and sometimes as purely visual structures.

The paintings usually begin with random brush strokes of color, and then unpredictably respond in experimentation and exploration, taking big risks as new combinations present themselves -- quite thrilling! It would seem that paintings already know what is wanted and all that is needed is a willingness to listen, surrender, watch, and trust -- letting go!
